Mac OSX Leopard is great. Just make sure you get enough ram for what your doing. I have a macbook with 4 GB of ram and its super fast. And it does all of my tasks with flying colors! Plus there are no viruses with a mac. Unlike PC. I used to be a PC user a couple of years ago. I was going through the same thing you were. Im really glad I switched. Also Vista is Horrible.
