  1. Really, this is one horribly frustrating piece of poorly designed, tested, and built, trash! It’s shiny and looks cool, and IF it actually worked well it’d be awesome. Unfortunately this worthless garbage WILL let you down in so many ways. For example: remote needs to be pointed at the unit in an odd angle, you press play and it’ll have to decide whether it does nothing or lets your ipod play without a sound, sometimes it’ll stop responding if you remove one of your devices and won’t respond to the remote at all until replaced, sometimes after removing and replacing a device the unit still won’t respond even after turning it on and off–then 5 min later it decides to work again.

It’s problems got worse over time, so between it LOOKING like a really great design and there not being too many problems at first, I didn’t return it. Do yourself a huge favor, return it if you have one, or, better yet, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from “jwin” or “iLuv” let alone this waste of money.

  2. David Simon says:

Just beware that the unit can freeze and you have to pull the plug and reboot from scratch. The company has prepared literature on this and knows full well that this is a flawed product. The trick seems to be you must Insert your 3G with the radio off. That is imperative. When it cooperates it gives you a solid dependable performance . The sound is above average but hardly on the level of my Bose wave radio. It is a nice bedroom performer. Can you do better? I think ihome beats this sonically. But I wanted the dual dock and the iluv is the only game in town–but let’s see what CES has up it’s sleeve. Bottom line: if you approach this with care and caution it is imperfectly fine,

  5. There’s a firmware bug that makes the alarm clock freeze. The clock is not smart enough to autoset from an atomic clock or from the ipod itself, but worse of all, when the firmware crashes, the time gets stuck and requires a power cycle to get unstuck. There does not seem to be a way to upgrade the firmware, so it’s pretty much a lemon.

On the plus side, the sound quality is not too bad – a bit tinny, but acceptable, you can use the alarm on the iPhone itself, and it charges two iPhones at the same time. The controls are intuitive enough.
