There appears to be nothing wrong with this battery. My issue is the difficulty of installing it. This is not an easy surgical operation and is not comparable to putting a new hard disk drive on your PC. The Mini is pretty much hermetically sealed, so you will gouge the bottom and top areas by prying off the plastic lids, probably severely like I did. Once you manage to get to the motherboard (again, not easy, and with several hair-raising steps in between), the battery connector is tight and very difficult to pop out and extremely difficult to pop in; ditto for another piece that connects to the motherboard at the top. When I finally managed to push this mini-component in, I ended up cracking the delicate LCD screen. Well, there goes $249 for the iPod, $28 for the battery, and $12 for the special screwdriver (the one included could not catch the thread of the tiny screws). Had I known all of this, I would have swallowed my pride, sent the dang thing in to Apple, and paid the $70 to get a refurbished iPod Mini with a new battery in it. Like the previous reviewer, I am annoyed at Apple for knowingly making this thing so user-unfriendly. I'm going to miss my iPod....

I had no problem installing this thing into my 3 year old Ipod mini, I didn't lose any songs and from 1/2 hour battery life with my old battery I now have around 6 hours. Such a good buy I bought them for everyone else in my life with an Ipod mini.

The reviews on this product were pretty positive, so I thought I'd give it a shot. The directions were easy enough to follow, but I had to chip up the cover a bit in order to get the top and bottom open with the instrument they provided. In the end, the new battery never worked. After charging it in the wall, the screen would just blink if I plugged it into my computer, and the iPod itself would never turn on. I think I was better off beforehand. At least my old battery gave me a couple hours of playtime.

The battery fit easily into my ipod w/ no problems, and appears to be working fine. My concern is that the date on the battery was 2007, that would have been information I would have considered when ordering. Two years old, doesn't sound like it was new to me. But, I live in Hawaii, and it's not easy locating a battery for an ipod; so, I'm crossing my fingers all will go well and this replacement will give me my money's worth.
