I brought this a while ago and it’s been installed in my iPod 5.5 Gen 80GB for about 3 months. I don’t know specifically how it compares with Apple’s original battery because I don’t use my iPod as often and before this battery I listened to music. Now I watch videos, mostly. It’s 850 mAh.
It’s got great battery life. It does not lose its charge after sitting unused for 2-3 weeks like the original battery (normal, says Apple) so I suppose it has greater capacity.
The con: The battery has a plastic sticker wrapped around it with some info on it. If you rip this plastic wrap off, your warranty (1 year?) is void. Now, for my 80GB, there was no way the ribbon cable was long enough to reach into its little socket deep enough for the latch to lock it in place unless I ripped off the plastic to free an extra centimeter of ribbon. I remember twisting it every which way (and sweating bricks) but there’s really no way. I don’t see this battery giving out anytime soon though.
The opening tools are pretty good, just be gentle and have patience.
