To say that I’m disappointed in this is an understatement. This is a horrible external battery and I can’t recommend it at all.
The purpose of an external battery would be to serve as an additional power source for your iPhone. And that’s pretty much where the failure point of this battery is at. It doesn’t stay connected during typical use. This will only work if you are able to hold both it and your iPhone in such a way so as to keep it from simply falling off the iPhone. If you try to actually use your iPhone while this battery is in place you’d pretty much need to have an extra hand (or perhaps a very l-a-r-g-e hand) to be able to keep them together. The slightest movement of either the phone or the battery and the battery simply disconnects.
In theory, if you try really hard and are holding your iPhone in front of you, and you’ve got those really large hands you might be able to keep it in for awhile. And I suppose if you keep your iPhone flat on a hard surface then you might be able to use it. This falls in the category of what you might use if your iPhone is about to go dead and you use it as an external recharge battery, just let it sit someplace until it’s charged. For my use, I’ve got two other batteries that would serve better so this will end up in my travel bag of stuff I’m probably never going to use.

I use an ipod touch Gen 1 for back-to-back dance classes. I really don’t want the battery to run out if I forget to recharge the ipod! (I use an extension cable for the battery so I can plug in the audio cable and continue to use the ipod while it is charging.) this gizmo indeed replenished the ipod battery when it was 1/2 way. but it drained itself from Full to Zero while doing so. That is not much internal capacity. It will save you in a pinch, I guess, but that is it. I am going for the 5000maH IMP500.
