This product is really great for extending the battery life of the ipod. I use my ipod for recording my lectures in university, which drains the battery fairly quickly. With this case and battery, after I record a 1.5 hour lecture, I plug my ipod back into it, go across campus to my next class (which is about 10 minutes away) and the ipod is not fully charged, but it’s ready to go again for another 1.5 hour lecture recording.
I can use the battery this way for a few days before having to recharge it, which is great because I always forget to charge my electronics anyway.
I love the flexibility this extra battery life offers, for video watching, listening to movies, playing games, or recording lectures!
I have only a few small issues with the case:
The pass-through plug at the bottom, which is used for syncing the ipod as well as charging the case and the ipod, does not support my iTalk microphone. It appears to work, like I can start recording a lecture, but the microphone picks nothing up. This forces me to be taking my ipod out every lecture, and plugging it back into the case and battery between lectures.
The silicone is a little thick for the click-wheel and it takes several tries to get it to work.

This is a great battery add-on for my 5G iPod. It’s sleek, attaches securely, and protects, all while giving me more than enough juice for a transatlantic flight. Two notes, though: 1) it does add a fair amount of weight, but I found that offset by the convenience, and 2) make sure to charge both the iLuv and the iPod fully before you head out. This will recharge your battery, but it also seems to drain over time, so if you let it sit more than a few days you may find it’s empty.
Update, October 2008: Still loving this accessory, even with my brand new iPod Classic (6G). Still works great, still won’t go on a trip without it. Still highly recommended!

Other than being huge, it’s an awesome device. But I kind of expected it to be larger than hoped, after all, it IS an external battery.
Also, the rubber over the button lock has ripped. I wouldn’t recommend using the lock if you have this case, because it takes a fingernail to slide the lock over, and using a fingernail slices the rubber after a while of use.
I don’t use it as my day-to-day case, I only use it when I need additional battery. Because of me not using it every second I use my iPod, it’s held up very nicely. If you do insist on using it all the time, I would suggest buying one of those clear sticky screen protectors to protect the screen, since this case does not. I did that, and have no complaints. I got mine from Belkin for fairly cheap.
Overall, I recommend this iLuv for those frequent flyers, travellers, or hikers who really need a huge upgrade in battery life. It’s a great item!! I haven’t found anything better.

I used this for a 5 hour flight and my iPod was still fully charged when I reached my destination. Well worth the cost and the added size to your iPod.

I used this on a long flight to Hong Kong when the video system was out on the airline. Rather than looking at a map of my plane barely moving over the Pacific Ocean for 13 hours, I watched video podcasts, listened to audio podcasts and music, and pretty much giggled my way through the flight. The battery adds quite a bit of weight to the iPod but that isn’t unexpected. The neoprene sleeve is a little difficult to remove, but not enough to take away a star.
